    Kozman's MX73 Cressida Project

Alrighty guys. So new project as of Saturday is an old mx73 toyota cressida.
Now I know its not a honda, but you guys can handle it.
Its got straight panels, few dints, either oxidized or peeling clear coat, but it IS silver.
352,809kms family owned car. Some engine problems, won't run on all cylinders, or idle.
    Transmission is solid.
    Not bad for $150 bucks

Plans for the near future are confined to an "uber cheapo" build, just how you all like it!

Paint as said is sketchy at best, I'll see if I can save it like I did the ludes paint but otherwise a respray will be on the menu.

Stud Pattern is 4x114.3 (You know what I'm thinking) Ive got multistud pattern rims so my 18's are going on asap and my new bronzers are going on the lude. Or vice versa, see how it goes.

Eventually though its getting some 15inch superlites in gunmetal, not sure on offset or wide yet.

A very very close drop to the floor, stanceworks?

And an obvious engine swap from the tired 5mge, I'll rebuild this engine, drive it til I'm off my p's then its off to get a half cut, looking at a 2jz or 1uz v8 conversion

safe to say between this and the lude, I've got my hands full.

But then again if this doesn't work out, its easy enough to sell once its running and repaired.

I'm waiting for the inevitable "pics or it didn't happen?" So I'll save you the trouble

More pic's after I actually pick it up.

    Stay Tuned

Moar plans? moar plans then this forum has room for!

I think the 2jz swap is moar then enough trouble, even though its a relatively straight forward swap.

Concerning the extreme future planz, I'm cut between the 1uz swap and the 2jz swap, I just love the sound of a quad cam 8

    I'm disappointed... it's not a grande...

I had an MX83, loved that thing! had extractors and a 2.5" exhaust, had an AWESOME burrble when your backed off the throttle. Loved the 7M engine, with the exception of the BHG's...

You could always keep the 5M in it?

Grande would be great, leather seats and all that jazz, win some lose some I guess, for $150 I can live with my decision
But I'm thinking of raiding some wrecking yards for all that grande stuff, woodgrain dash components, digital dash, leather motorized seats?

The 5m will stay til p's really don't want it after that, m series is kinda gross, especially with crazy fast swaps like these.

Now I've been crunching numbers and off the block, completely stock the 2jz only just has more kw's and more hp, as it gets higher its really isnt that much of a difference, heres a comparison thanks to copypasta and wikipedia

    1uz:
In its standard, original trim with 10:1 compression, power output is 191 kW (256 hp), torque of 353 Nm (260 lbft)
The engine was slightly revised in 1995 with lighter connecting rods and pistons and an increased compression ratio to 10.4:1 resulting in peak power of 195 kW (261 hp) and torque of 363 Nm (268 lbft).
In 1997, Toyota's VVT-i variable valve timing technology was introduced along with a further compression ratio increase to 10.5:1,[1] bumping power and torque to 216 kW (290 hp) and 407 Nm (300 lbft). In the GS400 application, output was rated at 300 hp and 310 lbft of torque.

    2jz:
The addition of twin turbochargers, jointly developed by Toyota with Hitachi, in sequential configuration had raised its commercially cited output from 230 PS (169 kW; 227 hp) to the contemporary industry maximum of 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) at 5600 rpm.
In its first appearance, torque was advertised as 44.3 kgm (435 Nm, 320 lbft) at 4000 rpm to be later recited as 46.0 kgm (451 Nm, 333 lbft) with the introduction VVT-i in production year 1997.
Engine power in the North American and European markets, as documented by Toyota, was increased to 325 PS (239 kW; 321 hp) at 5600 rpm.

I'll also leave this here for ultimate ear-gasms

Is that supercharged, or is it just something else whining?
In which case, regardless of the 2j being what a 2j is, my vote is for the 1u
