I've already read it

Quote:
CONFIRMING REPORTS in October that the cult rally hero would soon switch out of his worked Subaru WRX STI, Ken Block has confirmed today that he will contest this year’s World Rally Championship in a Ford.

Together with long-time sponsors Monster Energy, Block will compete in select rounds of this year’s Championship, driving an M-Sport prepared Focus RS to build up his skills ahead of a full attack on the 2011 series.

“Racing in the World Rally Championship has always been a dream of mine but I’d
still be dreaming if I promised podiums in the near future,” Block said.

“I will be going head-to-head with the greatest drivers on the planet. And sure, I will be giving it my all but my main objective for 2010 is to develop into a competitive driver for 2011 and beyond.”
M-Sport chief Malcolm Wilson said Block’s influence in elevating rally’s profile around the world with his popular Gymkhana videos has been a boon to the sport.

“Ken has been instrumental in elevating the public awareness of rallying throughout the world with his multimedia exploits, particularly in the U.S. which is a key global market and an area where WRC has yet to reach its full potential.”

Block won’t be restricting himself to the WRC alone, however, with the X Games and Rally America Championship in his sights - along with the rally-spec Ford Fiesta.

Reportedly the first American to contest the WRC, Block’s efforts will be sponsored by DC Shoes - the company he co-founded - along with Castrol Edge, the video game Dirt2 and long-time partner Monster Energy.

Rod’s PAC RX3 takes NZ Honours

After a much anticipated arrival, the PAC team landed in Auckland NZ to take on the local talent in their home town. The team consisted of Rodney’s PAC, RX3 and Ivan’s beautiful Pink RX3. The first day saw the team attend the static show held at ASB showgrounds in Auckland, where the crowd of 12,000 spectators were able to get up close and personal with the boys and a chance to see the cars before they headed out to the race track at Meremere the next day.

The show consisted of a show n shine event with over 280 entrants, as well as an 8 car field of Drift cars demonstrating their skills in front of the crowd. Rocky and crew chief, Joe were lucky enough to land a ride in one of the drift cars giving them an insight on how it all works in the land of drifting.
Day 2 was time to get down to business. With the weather looking quite pretentious the team prepared both cars to take on the kiwi’s down the quarter mile. After the Meremere crew dried and prepared the track, Rodney went out for his first shake down pass to familiarise himself with the track. Second run saw the PAC RX3 make a pass and run an 8.6 to top the qulaifying ranks after the first round. After a few shaky runs and still trying to get used to the track conditions he reeled off a 7.86@105mph with his parachute bloomed at ¾ track.

The finals saw Rodney taken on local heroes CBR in their Ozmod RX4. Rod ran his personal best for the day with a 7.64@147mph taking home the honours for 2010 in the Pro Import Class. A big credit should be given to the New Zealanders for getting down such a tricky race track. Rodney would like to thank his sponsors for their support especially Turbosmart , SEM and Juice.
The other headlining car of Ivan Skaramuca ran the fastest time of the day reeeling off a 7.43 after scraping the wall. Ivan counted his lucky stars as it could have been a lot worse, apart from a bruised ego and some superficial damage on the car all is repairable, but unfortunately the car will not be able to make the second event in Christchurch in 3 weeks time.
The team will be back for the south Island Championships, in Christchurch, with Rodney’s PAC RX3 to do it all over again. A big shout out goes to all the supporters who came to the Auckland show and to everyone who helped make us being there possible and we look forward to seeing you down south in 3 weeks time. Castrol EDGE Drift Car gets the STIG’s Approval

The Top Gear Live Show took place in Sydney over the weekend with thousands of fans crowded into the Acer Arena at Homebush.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the RX-7 drift car being used in the show broke down just after the 5pm session. Show organizers called on the owners of our Castrol EDGE sponsored drift car (Motive DVD) to step in for the 8pm session.

The STIG drove the Castrol EDGE drift car in front of a full Acer Arena crowd on Saturday night. He actually preferred our very own drift car to the RX-7 stunt car! The car then featured on display as part of the back-lot tour after the show.

Castrol relinquishes naming rights sponsorship of Victor Bray’s Team Bray Racing

After almost 20 years as major sponsor of Australian drag racing legend Victor Bray and his multi-ANDRA Championship-winning team, a change in investment priorities will see Castrol relinquish naming rights sponsorship of Team Bray Racing at the end of 2010.

Castrol Lubricants’ marketing director Andrew Johnson said the company had made a difficult decision after a detailed review of its sponsorship properties, but would continue to support the team with product supply and technical assistance.

"The Castrol - Team Bray partnership is probably one of Australia’s longest running sponsorships and during that time we have enjoyed immense success on and off the race track,” Johnson said.

“Victor and his son, Ben Bray, are great race car drivers, but even better people who have always been willing to help us in our business.

“Our sponsorship investment priorities have changed in recent years meaning we needed to make a very tough decision to not continue as naming rights sponsor beyond this year.

“However, we will stay part of the team in terms of product supply and technical support and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Team Bray Racing well into the future.”

Team Bray Racing patriarch, Victor Bray said he respected what had been a difficult commercial decision.

“My relationship with Castrol as major sponsor has been a life changing relationship, but all good things must come to an end at some stage,” Bray said.

“I feel fortunate and am thankful to Castrol and all the staff over the past 20-plus years for the help and friendship they shown towards me, my family and my race team.

“We had some great times, set plenty of national and world records, and won nine ANDRA National Drag Racing Championships during our partnership.

“I also saw my son Ben begin his racing career under the tenure of Castrol sponsorship.

“I feel that both myself and Castrol as a company enjoyed many benefits out of the relationship and am proud of my time with them.

“We will have an on-going relationship, albeit at a lesser level, but Castrol have decided to head in another direction with their marketing and I certainly respect that decision.

“Team Bray Racing has a growing list of great sponsors and will continue racing to the best of our ability while we seek another naming rights sponsor.

“So thanks again to Castrol and staff, both past and present, for the career you afforded me and Ben and hopefully we will see many of you at the track in the future."

After a number of years of providing lubricant sponsorship and technical assistance, Castrol first assumed full naming rights sponsorship of Victor Bray and his infamous black, supercharged BB/Gas 1957 Chevy for the 1991/92 drag racing season.

Victor won six straight professional ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championships, beginning with the inaugural title in the 1995/’96 season, while Ben won the 2002/’03 Top Doorslammer Championship under the Castrol banner in his debut season.

With drivers Victor and Ben Bray, Troy Critchley and Steve Stanic, Team Bray Racing’s Castrol Top Doorslammers have won over 30 ANDRA national events and set numerous national and world records.
