    Beef Jerky (Recipes)

OK, Bought a dehydrator with the intent of making beef jerky.

Looking for some mixes to get things going.

Anyone here tied this? Got a mix you like to use?

Hey Bob - I'm not sure if PA rules let me promote my Ebay Store? I'm sure someone will let me know though?
I have some Jerky kits there - and also 2 x Samplers that have 5 flavours in each? Kits contain all spices - and Cure - so the food safety aspect is covered.I made some great Jerky with chicken fillets last weekend - as well as some boned out lamb shoulder. If it's OK to post - the link is here.

    Cheers

Thanks Bob - I know what you mean about visuals and hunger. I had to visit the Outpatients clinic of our local hospital last night; for some abdominal pain that just won't go away! I was there for a total of 6 hours. During the wait - they had one of the cooking channels on the TV. Mid way through I got so hungry, I had to pop out for a burger at HJ's. AND - they didn't even miss me while I was gone!

    Cheers

Been considering getting a dehydrator myself as Me, the Mrs and kids are all a bit partial to jerky. My auntie used to make it for me and my brother as kids and I think she used to just hang it out to dry it. A bit different than the stuff we eat these days but was pretty awesome to my memory. Will have to find out off my mom what recipe my aunt used to use and how exactly she made it.

I love making beef jerky but it takes up so much meat. Biltong is incredibly fun to make too and just as awesome. I love it when it is super hot.I usually make two batches, one not so hot for guests.
