Binning my carpet

I am thinking about getting rid of my old 21yr old carpet just having new mats for a little while then re carpeting with some Bunnings auto carpet later. Is there anything i need to look out for such sensors or and wiring that might need to be covered etc?.

Nope, it'll be fine. There will be a wiring loom down the passenger side of the car + one down the drivers side if you have 4WS. There are a few wires that go just in front of the back seat and into the front seats for the seat belt sensors IIRC and the ECU under the passenger's feet but that's about it. There shouldn't be any sensors or bare wires to worry about, if you find anything you're worried about then just cover it in tape until you get the new carpet.
