Anyone tried the US aftermarket headlamp units?

    Hi guys

My RH main headlight beam mount cracked and broke off a lug. Now the H4 bulb can't be clipped in - and instead is Silastic'd (is that a word) in place. Thinking of buying an aftermarket pair of headlight units - like those shown here. Anyone tried - or have experience with these?

I really like the black sets with the integral corner lamp - but am not sure if'n they're legal here? Should be though - I've since seen a Mitsubishi Triton with black headlight surrounds?

I like the blacks too and the more stock look the better plus the bonus of getting the Hid kit in there which would probably be the draw for me in them.

    Whats the P&P on them?

    Hi Gregsir

Would a pair of HID's fit do you think? The Live Chat guy I spoke to said that they are currently just Xenon's. Do HID's have that same H4 base?

    >>>>>Whats the P&P on them?

Not too sure - I haven't asked yet - I wanted to see if anyone had had issues with getting access to the bulbs on them - and whether beam alignment would still be OK?

    Cheers

From what I have heard they have to be modified because the cutoff is set up for driving on the wrong side of the road
If you don't turn around to look at your car as you are walking away, you have the wrong car

Damn it - there's a thought! But Andy's AutoSport have a direct connection with the supplier - so I can check that out with them. Thanks for the info; it's not something I had thought through at all!

That's right, but it's nota difficult mod to do to get it working right. I've done it twice. Hardest part is getting the headlight unit open!

Thanks Pac! I'd rather not crack them open if possible? How big a problem is it lighting wise - if you don't do that mod?

    Cheers

Hey Pac - if I can't get a R/hand drive set - just how did you do it??

I did a search of the forums and there is a post on how to do it but most of the pictures are no longer working. Heres the link if you want a look anyway.

They look identical to the Depo Headlights I have. They're still sitting in their box uninstalled.......

Part No lookup for LP-HOPR92BBJ-DP returns hits for the same Depo ones so I'm assuming they are identical.

Yes, the are set up for LHD cars but you can adjust the projector beam via the 2 screws on the back of the unit.

Apparently that gets it fairly close to where you want it for a RHD car & if you want to adjust them further you don't need to take them apart, you can get to the nuts and screws holding the projector in place after removing the rubber cap.

Thanks Mokhkw - are you planning to install them any time soon? I'd love to know how you go?

Hey Mokhkw - are you able to post a close up pic of the rear of one of them? AND - it'd be a damn miracle if you could take a pic with the rubber boot off?

I think i have a set of the halo projector ones, with some slight force, they do line up with all the holes so far (could be my car that has shifted though)

I'm actually pretty happy with them. Yet to test out the actual headlights cos I need to fix a short in the wiring somewhere. The halos are working fine at the moment however

I'm hoping to get access to the shop where my lude is being worked on when they have a break for xmas so I can install the headlights, OEM foggies, EL dash etc. But that also depends on work as well...

Here's some pics of the back of the passengers side with and without the rubber boot. Hard to get a photo of the top screws inside the housing and a flexi driver would be needed - Cheap A Chips has one for $8 but they have no images so I'm guessing its just the flexi extension itself with no bits. I have a Stanley 10 Piece Flexi Screwdriver Set but they don't sell them in Oz(?) so I got mine from the UK for $30.

If you check out eBay you can get the extension only for $3-5 ex Hong Kong

$199.15 USD. You would have to get a quote for shipping but I'm guessing it will be better than what Andys can offer, I've found them and CARiD to be the most expensive when it comes to shipping ex-USA.

Seller is listed as Dimension Labs so maybe you can contact them about the RHS fitment.
