    Dyno Sheets

    Hey P.A.,

I have been looking at Dyno sheets every now and then and I was wondering about the torque readings.

For instance this Dyno sheet says that the LM17ER EM1 made 159 nm but on the actual graphs it has a different reading, 'Torque Rear'.

Can anyone explain this at all?

    Cheers

the dtorque figure is the one thats most likely to be close to accurate. It's derived torque and takes into account gear ratios, etc.

Ian's right with that one, it will put down a figure on the dyno but it's not always correct depending on Gear selection and Diff ratio. It needs to be a 1:1 ratio from the engine to the wheels to get the actual figure you want, which isn't always possible to do without a bit of calculation at the end!

For example on my turbo cars' dyno it put down like 400nm of torque running 7lb of boost. I know for damn sure that the engine isn't actually putting that out .
