Why the hell can't people let us have a car scene like this in Australia. Cheers for sharing the experience Tim.

What a wonderful trip you've had Tim. Remarkable what you've witnessed!

Thanks Bob and Terry, it was a phenomenal experience to see up close what the Japanese car culture is really like.

I wish Australia could be more like Japan in it's car scene. Seeing rotor guys chatting with GT-R guys, and Kei guys chatting with drift guys was mind blowing. Coming from our rigid car scene where you're in one group and don't step out of it, it was refreshing to see.

It's prompted me to keep going with the FC in whatever way James and I want.

    Great photo's mate!

Such a great diversity of cars over in Japan. So many unqiue cars we don't get a lot or get at all here like that FD2.

Thanks for sharing, looks like a great trip.

We're planning a trip for next May but we're probably not going to make it out of Tokyo with the time we have. I'm trying to convince the wife to take the trip up to Motegi and the Honda museum up there.

I can't believe you can rent a replica Fujiwara AE86 Trueno, that right there is what I love about Japan.

Thanks for having a look guys,

squalled, so many cars there you will never see here. Most of them are just treated like crap because they are the local cars. Was sad seeing that AW11 in the last photo. of

Tassie if you're in Tokyo Toyota Mega Web and historic car section in the next building is great. You could easily spend a month in Tokyo and not see half of it. Heaps of cool cars around there though!

Zedries sorry it doesn't look like you can make it, hopefully you can get over there soon!

Would love to that trip too, have heard from work colleagues who have gone and are also mildly into jap cars they went expecting Tokyo drift to come out of the woodwork every night and struggled to see a decent sports/modified car during the daytime.

Spot on gregsir, in town around Kyoto i saw very few interesting cars in the major areas. Saw couple of Gallardo's and a Nismo R35 but that was it. Soon as i went into the back streets i found the KW suspensions shop and the rocket bunny kitted 86.

Where i found most of the cars i took photos of was around Numazu which is a tiny little town mostly farming and Nagahama which is about 60km north of Kyoto. Even in those i had to go deep into back streets and often into the apartment complex areas to find what we would call 'interesting' cars. Most people drive either kei cars or large family sedans.

When i went to pick up the AE86 i had to go into the mountains around Gotenba, saw a Lamborghini Aventador getting stuck in even up there. The best stuff generally isn't in towns, or at least doesn't get driven in towns.
