    K20A TYPE R 91 3rd GEN

Call me insane, whatever, have ordered a complete K20A2 Type R and 6 speed for my next project.
Let the fun begin, will start a build thread when my pallet arrives.
Have checked with a VASS engineer and he was a wealth of knowledge regarding the swap. Telling me in detail, what I can and can't do to get it through compliance, even offering to help me if needed.

Sadly, the 90 'Lude has gone into storage for a while, I have decided to keep it 100% original and pristine. Will use it as a concourse car when finished.
If it doesn't do what you want....make it!

Can't help myself, I do love a challenge. It measures up really well, plus it's lighter, and doesn't hang down.

Best thing to do is weld in a full chassis and drop the K20 in the back

Your helping, so don't get too excited yet, lol.

The guy at the VASS place was trying to talk me into a K24, they are taller, but shorter than the boat anchors.

I saw a pic of one a while back from the US (of course), naturally enough I can't find it now though. They do some strange swaps there, wasn't there a rumour of one with a 350 Chev in it floating around as well. They don't care what or how they cut things out to fit them in.

The Chev swap (3g) was done but never intended for road use. The 4th gen chev swap was never finished. There are rear mount chevs in the supersedan series anyway. Granted they are full tube frame chassis.

The C32 NSX is pointless. Why?, because it develops 200kW and you can get that much easier with a H22 (swap parts available) and a small turbo. You'll also have more torque and less weight.

The K20 has been tried and doesn't work without major changes. Once all is said and done it's only a marginal improvement on the H22. So again. Why?

And for all the money you have just sunk into car, you could have just gone and got an STI / EVO and be enjoying the comfort of A/C and mod cons with civilized abandon.

You'd have more fun dropping that K20 into an imported Atom chassis and punt up to a race track on weekends.

Who's tried the 3G K20A swap? You have no idea of what I am capable of BTW. Why would I want to drive an STI / EVO when I can have a sweet 3G, it will have A/C etc. when finished The Atom would be fun, but I have my VFR1200 for that, I am after a slightly different 3G as my daily drive, and I do not want a boat anchor sitting over the front wheels. As for money most of the work is inhouse so cost is minimal, and I think I'll be the one laughing at the end of this project.

    Cheers Rusty
