    Car service maintenance expectation

    Hi everyone,

i am a new member here. so i just bought a 2006 honda civic vti, it's at 142,500ish km. Sadly, i looked through the log book and found out the last time the car was serviced was when it's at 105,000km.

when i go to the garage, will i be expecting a major or minor service? and how much approximately should it cost to get it done?

    Thank you guys.

    looking forward to hearing responses.

I'd check for evidence of a timing belt change at around 100,000 kms. If no record of this, I'd be adding it to the list.
Check the oil on the dip stick and also the inside of the oil cap. If the oil is old sludgy and black then you should expect to add an extra oil change about 1000kms after this one.

Other than that, a major service would be on the cards pronto.

There is a chance, and I'm hoping that this is the case for you, that the car has indeed been serviced more recently, just at a different mechanic who did not fill out the log book.

The state of the oil will reveal a lot. Perhaps try the engine oil analysis that a few of the other members here have had done:

The path of Honda is beset on all sides by the iniquities of Mazda and the tyranny of Nissan. Blessed is the Honda owner who in the name of handling and performance shepherds his Honda through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his Honda's keeper and the finder of lost kilowatts. And I will strike down upon thee with great acceleration and furious VTEC those who attempt to overtake and destroy my Hondas. And you will know my name is PRELUDE when I lay my VTEC upon thee.

Go to www.honda.com.au and register on the Honda One site for owners. This will pull up a full Honda service history and tell you if the cam belt was done. But only if it was done at a Honda Dealership.

i am pretty sure, the previous owner should have left the receipt even if he did not do the log book service. in my case, there's no record of any services after 100,000 km service.

i'll check about the timing belt.

but if i want to do a service, do i have to do log book service from 120,000km and working my way up until 140,000km service?
i hope this is not the case, because i cannot imagine how much it'll cost me to get all these done.

Nope. It will just be one service.
