Rydah's summer turbo project progress thread

So as the title says, by the end of summer i want to have a basic turbo set-up with a worked head

    PLANS:
buy h22a head, get it ported and straitened

    new:
    valves
    retainers
    springs
    guides
    seals
    cams
    edit:
    ARP head studs
    new headgasket, maybe de-comp plate?
how should i go about doing all of this?
i already have the turbo and exhaust made up to be a straight bolt on when i drop the head in but what have you guys found best/most recommended for going about this?

Forget the valves, springs, retainers, de compression plate etc

Instead get the head ported and polished and port matched to the manifold. Then get a bigger throttle body and have it port matched.

While the motor is apart put in mahle pistons and drive it like you stole it!

The stock head is perfect for turbo as is. Cams are a waste of money.

I think you'd have to at least upgrade your pump to a walbro 255...

    ^^^ and bigger injectors

you can get 2nd hand hondata and neptune ecu's, but some of the chipping on these are pretty crap. I bought one on here that I had to do quite a bit of fixing on.
It's probably better to buy from a reputable seller like xenocron.com

Yep, bigger injectors, fuel pressure gauge and pump are all required.

Insurance? no. They're a requirement. Turbos need more fuel.
The gauge is insurance for when you're on the dyno and need to diagnose a problem.

Pick the CC of injectors you require to make the power you want to make.
