    PJF_Lude new progress thread

Due to a lot of old info, and some bad info from a few members cluttering the good info, I've deleted my old thread and am starting fresh.

    Back story first:

Bought the car in 1997, was 100% stock with an auto box, for my now ex to drive to work. When we split in 2007, I kept the car and started this project.

2008 saw the first turbo setup, with a small T25 on the stock engine. Over a 4 year period it saw 3 different turbos, ultimately with a GT28 bal bearing turbo from a JDM S15 silvia, running various levels of boost between 6 and 10 psi. This setup lasted until around April last year when the engine failed after I installed a new ported head.

Being a bit of a collector of parts, I had a spare engine to throw in, but ultimately decided to fully build the old engine.

I dropped off 2 blocks and 2 cranks to my engine builder for him to pick the parts he liked best.

Did a little shopping and bought some new bits and pieces.

Carrillo PRO-H forged con rods - pretty much the strongest forged ally rods you can get.
Wiseco forged pistons, 20thou oversize, and slightly reduced CR 9.0:1 (sent off to have a low friction coating put on the skirts)
All gaskets genuine honda except for Cometic 3 layer MLS head gasket.
    New genuine Honda oil pump
Gates timing belt and tensioner kit.
    ARP head stud kit
    ARP main stud kit

Engine builder told me it would be 6 weeks, ended up being closer to 9 months. But the engine got the full treatment. Each bore machined, with torque plate attached, to exact size for individual pistons, mains line bored square to deck. Deck machined to suit MLS gasket. Bottom of bores notched for clearance for the larger con rods.

The head had previously been ported and rebuilt, but was stripped down, cleaned, and rebuilt again to make sure everything was spot on. The lower part of the intake had been previously ported to suit the head, but the upper plenum was still stock. We ported it to suit the H22 throttle body, we even experimented with various spacers and even removing the IAB plate completely, but found that Honda has done a pretty good job, so it is stock, and with the air being force fed it doesn't really make much difference anyway.

Our calculations show that even with the port work the cams will work reasonably efficiently up to around 350hp with a turbo, so I've left them stock. I'm not chasing anywhere near those sort of numbers, so no point reducing drivability off boost with different cams.

    Current turbo setup:
GT2871R - ball bearing turbo, good for over 450hp, so again, plenty of head room for my goals.
Precision 440cc injectors, I have 680cc injectors sitting on the shelf ready to be fitted.
    Walboro high volume fuel pump.
Standard fuel regulator works fine, so it has been left as is.
Currently running Crome Pro on JDM P08 ecu, but will be changed to NepTune P06 ecu, modified for IAB, and PWM boost control

    Anyway, on to the pictures.

Every one knows what the car looks like (been COTM for 3.5 years ) but here's a couple more in case you never look at the home page here.

    New pistons, with anti-friction coating.

Cometic headgaskets (yeah, I've used a few, I refuse to use more than once)

Awesome Prelude Ian. I'm nots sure if this was covered in your previous thread, but how much power are you putting out with your setup? I'm sure a lot more has gone into this than you have mentioned in this thread only!

Yeah, there has been a lot of hard work and trial & error along the way, but for sake of clarity, this is how it sits now.
It's 100% street tuned by me, and hasn't been on a dyno in it's current form, if I had to make a conservitive guess, i'd say between 220-240 hp at the wheels on 8psi. Free time pending, I'm hoping to get it on a dyno for a 1 bar tune before the end of the year.

Gearbox will hopefully be finished in the next week or so, but i need to choose a clutch yet, so will be a little while before it goes in.

    Here's the full list:
    Front

Lower control arm inner - SPF2131K
Lower control arm outer - SPF2132K
Upper control arm inner - SPF2061K
    Radius rod - SPF2129K
Sway bar link bushing - SPF0904K

    Rear

Lower control arm inner - SPF2133K
Lower control arm outer - SPF2132K
Upper control arm inner - SPF2061K
    Radius rod - SPF1767K
Sway bar end link - SPF1531K
Sway bar link bushing - SPF0904K

I haven't bought the radius rod ones yet, but I need to. All others are what is in the car now.

Don't bother with the prothane stuff, despite all the discussions of washers and spacers over on pp, they still don't fit propery, the superpro ones fit perfectly.
