    intercooler at 7psi necessary?

so as the title says id be running 7 psi,
would an intercooler be necessary? seeing as there is more space that needs to be compressed would i get more lag?

just general intercooler stuff as well

you don't have to, but it's highly recommened. I went my first boosted summer without an intercooler, saw intake temperatures in excess of 100', intercooled i have to be pushing it really hard on a hot day to see 55'

As for lag, it made hardly any noticable difference.

It's possible to run without one, ( Ian PJFLude did so for some time....)
But it's not at all advisable. (Ian is now running an intercooler...)

the bigger the intercooler, the more lag. But the bigger the intercooler, the cooler your charge air will be...

The cooler your charge air is, the less chance of detonation... Bla bla bla....

    It's all a trade off.....

Dont run a car without one. Ur adding years to ur engine by letting it get so hot. What size turbo?

i was thinking of getting a same side intercooler becuase of the way the turbo sits, it would use less piping and make more sense, but have the top the inlet and bottom outlet(to throttle body)
cause heat rises, so sooler would be at bottom, am i right?

If the intercooler has a quaity core, it'll work fine.

They are exactly like a radiator. A quality radiator is simply better than a poorer quality unit.

If you running a same side intercooler, with a quality core, it'll be fine....

The problem with a same side intercooler would be getting both pipes to it. There's not much room around the radiator. Have a look at Adrenalins thread for lots of 4th gen intercooler pipe fitting pics.

U could use a 300x300 intercooler or something like that. Dont go thicker than 76mm. Also if u plan on running more boost later u will need to go bigger. I have a T04E on mine and i have a 600x300x76 core size intercooler. And im running 400hp. That takes 20psi. If u go that big on 7psi with that turbo ur gonna lag like crazy. To be honest u still will lag with that turbo.

I can confirm the lag, i have the same size turbo. Although my engine was pretty unhealthy (it died), apparently it it didn't lag as much in its previous life...
