Taking the turbo off will keep your dad happy.
Not a chance in hell my kids will come near a turbo car till they are 30, left home and have a mortgage.

do you think running a 3.6 pound spring and an MBC pushing max 7psi is too much of a gap or should i go for a 7 pound spring after i get my father on board? I guess a 7 pound spring and no BC would always perform better
it should be fine, will be more of an issue as you go to higher levels of boost later.

Good to know, I won't be going any higher than 9psi as that's what it's been given to me at but i've got no grip whatsoever when i put my foot down even 3rd gear is a bit of a squeal

Okay ive got the 3.6 pound spring in, a turbotech manual BC is on the way and i want a tune at 7psi. i'm planning to do it this week if work and uni will allow, the car is running lean in vtec on the stock motor i think the vtec engagement point might even need to be changed but ill get that sorted out by Toda; don't worry i'm not driving it like this. ecu is a hondata s100, will i be able to change boost as i please and have a decent tune for a range of boost levels? i guess i should ask the tuner but ill throw it out there anyway!

has anyone ever dealt with Toda i am having trouble getting damian to answer the phone. i'm quite particular about getting him to do the tune as the car has been there before.

Don't tune to 7 if you may go higher later, get it tuned to the maximum boost you think you'll want to run, then back the boost off with the boost controller back down to 7psi

why not ian? its currently tuned for 9 psi, when i dropped boost to 3.6 the prev owner said it will be running lean in vtec i assume the same would happen if i ran it at 7 psi with a 9psi tune.
i was thinking of a 7psi tune running at 7psi, with the option of going to 9 every now and then

Why not tune it for both? Have 2 maps running for each setting

Oh shattered, I know my friends haltech has a switch to switch between maps for different boost settings. Isn't the s100 really hard to tune? Its not just a plug into a laptop and tune is it?

nah its just a small chip in a non prelude ecu i think its OBD1 even. its the cheapest hondata solution for us but it means i cannot change anything myself. the s200 has a few more features like launch control or full throttle shifting which would be cool with a turbo.
if i had launch control i would be doing a standing quarter at every set of lights haha so im kind of glad that i don't!!

7 psi should be tuned the same on a 30psi tune as it would on a 7psi tune
When tuned, the ecu will be tuned for full vacuum up to your maximum boost and everything in between, so if you are tuned for maximum 12psi, you are also tuned for 7psi

If it runs lean at 7psi on the way to 12psi, then you really need a tune anyway.

While most ecu's will switch between different maps, they are usually set for different fuels, or for differing street and track tunes. There will sometimes be switches for different boost levels aswell, but this rarely changes the fuel mapping.
