I was just meaning this thread, I'm sure everyone is aware of them but just not mentioned them here and taken it into cost factor when changing to forged pistons

alright.. sorry for bringing up a dieing thread.. but i got two options now.. have had my gt2860r sussed out and it needs to be rebuilt.. anyone know a rough price range of what it can cost to get rebuilt? The other option is to buy a gt3076r or alike and use it instead.. thoughts? At this point of time im looking into a egay turbo kit.. then replacing the turbo with a garrett.. that was my real concern at this point as the ebay turbo is journal and don't like its chances of lasting.. also the best thing i have worked out is to get a t3 exhaust manifold to suit the h22 and if i use the gt28.. use a adaptor plate to the flange to use that turbo.. but if i end up buying a gt30r i can use the exhaust manifold as is.. anyone heard of this method used before and is the adaptor plate easy to obtain?

mate from my work had his el falcon boosted for no more then 5 days using a gt30r and had problems on his first day.. and blew his headgasket up yesterday due to his wastegate spring putting up to 15psi into his motor.. which it couldn't handle.. so the wastegate supplied that im getting is only a 8psi spring so it should be right with my motor.. at the end of the day im trying to get a base setup being relatively cheap.. so im hoping to rebuild my gt28 is cheap so it gives me money to spend on the manifold, adaptor plate earlier then later.... otherwise a genuine garrett gt30r will set me back a bit which means less current funds for other parts of the setup...

the gt2876r is a ball bearing turbo, so it's probably going to cost around the same to rebuild it than to replace it

ahhh great.. i was hoping for it to be like a few hundred dollars (like someone told me).. theirs no justification really for rebuilding a turbo if you can get it the for same price.. i got this turbo for free.. so i figured if i got it rebuilt and later on upgraded to a gt30r i could always sell this one off for coin towards the gt30r.. zzzzz.. will have to get some quotes i guess.

far out.. over a grand, thats crazy.. would be reasonable if they said 500.. cause the turbo is in decent nick.. just has a bit shaft play.. and if i was going to get a new turbo i would be definitely getting something with a bit bigger for more lag, want to have it so it just hitting full boost at 4.5 - 5k and adjust my vtec a tad lower so its simply going ballistic in the high rpm range.. but as said i will get some quotes and if they are reasonable and not a couple hundred short of a new gt30r or alike.. then i'll get it rebuilt.. otherwise somehow get rid of it (dunno if i can get cash for it) and buy a new one.. damn...
