Trust me, if I had the tools to deck a head I would have done it myself, like everything else on my car.

I've basically finished fixing the mistakes as best I can. I didn't want to take the head off again as the MLS headgasket has been heat cycled and I don't want to buy another one (around $100 plus shipping). I don't have anymore molylube for the studs, and all the seals and hoses have had enough stress from being taken on and off so many times already.
I called him and let him know about the **** ups. It came out that his apprentice did do the job like I asked previously. I'm going to chalk the money up to experience, but in return I will be making it well known on the internet about this workshops abysmal result.

Well FML. Looks like I wasn't able to fix it. Still smoking. I wrote a little story though.

Why you should consider my cat to work on your head instead of Wilkins engineering?

My cat has very keen eyesight! He can spot a tin of cat food from miles away! Therefore he will easily spot the scratch made between cylinders 3 & 4 that would cause the head gasket to blow!

Cats are very good at the whole upright thing, that's why they always land on their feet! Also the reason why my cat would always install all of your valve springs the right way around!

Now I know cats have very sharp claws, but they're only good for climbing trees and maiming human skin. Their claws are thankfully not sharp enough to gouge the brand new stainless steel valves you purchased! And he would never even think of leaving it that way for you to discover later! He is a very thoughtful cat!

Cats have a very good memory, they remember where they hid that mouse last Friday (under your bed). Cats are also very good at remembering where they put your valves in the workshop!

Perceptive hearing is yet another great quality of my cat. He can hear the exact noise when a valve stem seal has clipped in fully! Just for your non-oil burning convenience!

Vote #1 :my cat for your all your engine head needs!

I'm feeling slightly more confident that the block is not burning any oil. And that all my smoking issues, as unlikely as it sounds are related to peoples inability to build a head to a good standard.

I took apart head #1 that had the original oil burning issues and I inspected Cylinder 4, where this one was burning from. I'll let the pic do the speaking:

I also noticed one of the other intake stem seals had quite an oblong appearance on the top, making me think that guide was out of spec or the valve was bent.

Here's a pic of a standard stem seal and an oblong stem seal! Caused by excess play somewhere.

I'm getting quite the collection of cometic Stickers now

    New head on!

She's nearly all done, I took it as a good time to change out the radiator for a full aluminium one. Hopefully fill the coolant back up tonight and see if she starts!
