Throttle Body Spacer...?

A friend of mine has a mad ass integra but it is NOT turbo and still makes the WOOSHHHHHHHHHH noise as though he has a blow valve. He told me that he bought a throttle body spacer from ebay for $30 and that is what is making that noise.

Does anyone know what that throttle body spacer is?

My car is a twin turbo and has a blow valve with another little valve thing attached which silences that WOOSH (which I HATE) but it makes more of a strange sucking noise which can be heard quite loudly from my vents on the bonnet. It's quite odd...

Okay I have a feeling you're very mis-informed about your car...

1. Your friend has a vacuum leak - probably caused by a misleading part such as the throttle body spacer. Those things hardly make any power, and require tuning to do any good anyway. I suggest you tell him to ditch the spacer.

2. Your car is definately not "twin turbo" unless you're talking about another car other than your prelude... But assuming you are turbo, the thing that is silencing the "woosh" is likely a plumbed back blow off valve. This means it makes the car legal. Anything venting to atmosphere (like a standard blow off valve) will get yo a ticket from mr police man.

3. The sucking noise from your vents in the bonnet are likely intake noise from an open pod filter.

maybe there is another tiny turbo hidden underneathe somewhere.
anything other than a turbo+BOV making the sound, is generally a bad or really tacky thing.

Yep, Its a single turbo. and you have a HKS type BOV venting to atmosphere under the bonnet. This is the thing making the noise. If you want it quiet you need a plumb back BOV. Basically this connects back into the inlet between the air filter and the turbo.

The sucking noise is the pod filter and also the turbo. To make this a little more quiet you need to enclose the pod filter. But for the most part you will get induction noise with a turbo.

It is a sxc looking bay - whats confusing me is the turbo exhaust manifold - it looks placed soo low... would you be able to get close up pics.

Look carefully. There is a piece of polished stainless which is a heat shield for the manifold. It mirrors the top of the block, creating the illusion that it's lower than it is. It caught me out too initially.
