Yeah would love a rex - so would the GF which always makes life easier when spending money - but probably more outlay than i want initially - basically looking at less than, or very close to 2K at the MOST - then investing 12-24 months and alot of spare $$$ along the way to customise it...

Less than 2k??? You've got to be kidding yeah? If you find any one of the cars listed above for less than 2k, it'll be a wreck... Save up more.

Saki perhaps i should just save up and enjoy my "new lude" for a couple of years... but I have seen 92 civics, a couple of HG Galants and 89 626 turbos for less than or not much more than 2k ...not in the greatest shape but far from being money pits... I was hoping to maybe even find a granny selling her car - it does happen!

Actually now toying with the idea of importing a car - loooking around on http://www.japaneseusedcars.comand for b/w 5-10 K you can pick up a complied Evo 4, WRX, FTO, or RX7... but prefer to go local - dont know much about importing so rather stick to something over here...

Im going with the Civic. As others have already mentioned, just the sheer availablility of parts for the civic, will mean you can get almost anything and at a reasonable price. And then theirs cosmetic accessories, there is a huge variety out their for the Civics, so you have every chance of turning your Civic into something eye catching and enviable. Plus just the fact that like most Hondas, a Civic is just a ****ing well made car.

I have an EG civic hatch, and despite the fact that I had plenty of modifications already done before I bought it, there's still plenty of options to improve on, and parts easily available.

Skylines are too heavy, lots of wear results from that and parts get really expensive

Mate you own a Honda, if you arnt ready for expensive parts then sell and get something else. Honda charge like there's no tomorrow and you will pay through the nose the older the car gets.

There are only 2 reasons why i service my car through a Honda dealership and they are that i have full log books (rare on a 1991 car) and i get trade pricing.

Honda spare parts are amoung the most expensive of any Japanese make.
