    Finally something to add!

    Recieved my side skirts yesterday.

Gunna take them to work with me today and throw some extra glass inside.

(luckily my current office is right next door to the mould shop I used to build boats in)

hopefully i'll get them patched, faired and ready for paint by the weekend.

Gunna take at least till the weekend. Have to basically totally rebuild them.
A few hundred grams of gun rovings on the inside, Some new flow coat on the outside. (fill all those hair line cracks befor I go near them with putty)
I was thinking about shaving a few MM of the hight of them. But Mrprelude helped me decide not to.
    Anyhow, Here's a sneak peek.

Gimme a week for the final product.

All the glass work is done.
I layed it up with about 1350g/m2 of chop strand mat. And a layer of 660g/m2 of double biaxial cloth.
With an extra 660g/m2 of double biax along the NEW top edge. As I rebuilt the entire top edge.
I decided to modify them so that i'd get an extra 20mm ground clearance.
The entire top edge of the skirts was broken or warped. So I jigged them up to be straight, made a dummy top lip, and laminated away. So it now has a good straight solid top lip.
Then I sanded the entire face surface back getting ready to paint.
All smooth now, and had the first cote of primer. Just to show me any flaws I still need to work on.
Waiting now for the final screed of bog to go off, so I can sand for the last time and paint.
I've got some interesting ideas for the fitting. You'll see soon.
I'll get some pic's up ASAP.

ok. Having pc trouble. But i'm getting there.

Here are the side skirts as they were when I got them.
Far far from perfect. They were so warped and cracked. If I threw them away, they'd have come back cause they were so bent.
Anyhow, i've allready explained what I did to them with the glass lay up above.
So this is what I had to work with. They look a lot better than they were.

I started by jigging them up. Screwing them to a straight piece of timber, to hold them straight. So that when I lay them up. They will come out straight.
Then I put a corflute spacer in where I want the new top edge to be. This way when I demold them, they'll end up about 20mm shorter than they were origonally made. To give me a little more ground clearance.

First you wet out the glass.

Then you roll it down. As I said. i used around 3 layers of 450g/m2 of choppy.

Then a layer of 660g/m2 of double biaxial (DB). And an extra layer of DB along the new top edge.

Then it's time to bog and fare.

    Undercoat.

And color. Remembering to give it all a good rub back between coats.

All I have to do in he morning is a few coats of clear. Wet and dry and buff.

    Then it's time to fit.

Want it all done befor my drive to bundy this weekend. Final pic's should be up by the weekend.

Ok. Their on. And I gotta say, i'm smiling. The idea I had for fitting seems to look good IMO.

Here are some pic's and i'll throw it open to you guys.

    Either way, i'm stoked.

What I did was to have a piece of aliuminium strip along the joint between the car body and the side skirt. I used a piece of aliumunium T section. I'll polish this up at a later date to get the full effect of what i'm trying to do.

Here are what pic's I could get. but it's dark. pic's are not too good.

I don't get the aluminium thing you're going for, seems like unnecessary shiny bits to me.

props to doing the work yourself

Yeah thanks. There's only 2 ways to get something done. Do it yourself. Or pay to have i done.
Seeing hat I decided to have a wife instead of money. (they seem to be mutually exclusive.) I am left with no option but to do it myself.

i tried the fitment both wih and without the ali. But decided the ali looked much better. I'll get more pic's up sometime this weekend. But i'm on my first road trip in the car this weekend. Visiting family in bundy.

P.S. Got my first ticket for being too low yesterday. Didn't argue with the cop though. He was one of about 30 doing a Bruce Highway blitz just south of Childers. He just gave me a ticket. Not a defect notice. So I'll just wear it I guess. He ignored the lack of a mod plate for the seats.

Ok, Here are some proper photos of the job now that they are finished.
I say finished with a giggle cause we all know nothing is ever "FINISHED"

As I said. Let me know what you think of the joiner strip. I ike it. I realise others may not. But either way, let me know.

Fire away. As with everything, I expect a fair deal of critisism. Seems not many people here like the direction i've taken the car. But hey. It's my car. And I like it. LOL
