5G Moonroof - All DOT Matrix?

Just curious, do all AUDM 5th gens have the DOT matrix on the moonroof glass? I went to 3 different wreckers today to look for the moonroof panel, and every single one had the dot matrix crap on it ... I ended up buying one, but is there anyway to get it off?

    Cheers

I agree. its the worst thing! I want to take it off because if i want sunlight or moonlight then ill open the sunroof otherwise theres a cover to block it out! Why do they need to put tint on it too -_-

In this article the end result doesn't have it ... Is there anyway to remove it?

If you're patient and good with abrasive paper I suppose you could get it off.

i'm pretty sure they have the dots so it blends in and looks clean..
if it was completely clear you would see the rails, sliding cover, bolts etc..

I'm not talking about the full black around the entire outer edge, I mean the whole glass is covered in little dots. So they're all like that yeah? I thought dot matrix was only supposed to go around the outer edge of glass, not cover the entire thing ...

the dots are there to tint it safely. if you put tint film on a glass roof, the panel apparently cracks..
you could strip it off, but you would probly damage the rubbers..

PM me for all your car audio and other miscellaneous installation needs.

thats just what ive been told by a few tinters.. apparently heat gets trapped inbetween the glass and film, and cracks as it cools?
maybe they can tint ones that are just smooth glass, and the dots are why ours shouldnt be tinted?
tho they guy that did Ashwees teg told us he wouldnt tint hers..

Are you sure that in the link that you posted the lack of focus on the camera isn't making it appear that the dots are not on the moonroof when they actually are?

perhaps is the heat that would build up between the sunroof and the cover that you can slide closed... coz on a sunny (burning sun) day you would be inclined to close both...

$100 at Deer Park wreckers. Theres one left in a 5G, and another one will be available soon. When I was there a silver 5g with P-plates was brought in with massive frontal damage. He said the parts will be available on that Friday probably.

ifi take a picture of my sunroof it would also appear like there are no dots. AMPERAGE is spot on.
