I didn't realise how much I missed mine until I got it back! I had completely forgotten what it was like to live without the constant stress of "must fix this", "must upgrade that", "must buy those"!

On another note, I purged the cooling system last night. There really wasn't a lot of air in there. Drove it to work this morning and with all the additional waiting at traffic lights due to school going back it was giving me the CEL again by the time I was reversing into my parking spot. I wasn't data logging so I don't have a great amount of detail but I'm pretty sure my issue persists. I'll check the coolant again before I drive home but I'm not expecting any loss. Any ideas?
Brand new radiator, custom SS coolant pipework, head only has 1100 kms on it since being completely stripped and worked so I highly doubt it's a blockage.

The only thing I can think of is that idle the oil pressure is low enough to trigger the warning light. I have a suspicion that is due to the thin running-in oil. Pressure is perfectly fine above 1000 rpm. But any additional heat caused by low oil pressure should affect both ect sensors shouldn't it?

You really need to know what the CEL code is. Data log time.

Steve (Adrenalin) was also having cooling issues, but seemed more related to air flow and the fans.

Yes, agreed. Will do that over the next week but I'm pretty sure it's going to be an overheat reported by the ect sensor. One thing I've noticed is that the thermofans do not come on after shutdown. They only seem to operate while the ignition is on. From memory the Fan B sensor should switch them on even with no key in the ignition if the temps warrant, is that right?

Yes, I attached a clear poly pipe to the bleed nipple in the thermostat housing and dropped the other end into the overflow tank, opened the heater tap, cracked the bleed valve open two turns, removed rad cap and topped it up watching for bubbles in the clear pipe, got no bubbles just a steady flow of coolant, tightened valve, ran car for 3 minutes (not easy as it runs very rough when cold with the forgies), topped up rad and replaced cap. Sound right?

Absolutely!! Hard to keep the coolant in the radiator when the cold engine is shaking it all out. And the neighbours love it when I leave at 4am
