    Post Next S2000 cancelled.

The restructuring of Honda’s new model programme that led to the death of the new Honda NSX is much more extensive than previously thought. Honda is completely dismantling its plans for the next two years as it attempts to deal with the rapid collapse in new car sales across the world.

Among the casualties of Honda’s rethink are a range of rear-wheel-drive cars to be sold under the Acura brand, a proposed V8 engine, a successor to the Honda S2000 and a convertible based on the forthcoming Honda CR-Z coupé.

Production of the current S2000 ends this year.

This is really a tragedy... There will simply be no 'fun' sports cars in Honda's lineup within the next few years...The power of dreams is quickly becoming the power of boring a to b transportation...

    Ahh... the naysayers...

Honda will come back bigger and better than ever. They just need to dig themselves out of financial poop first.

I can't say I'm surprised. But like I've said before, I'd much rather see Honda pull out of hero sports car production than be in a position requiring money from the government. They'll come back, give'em a couple of years.

If you ask me its ford and Toyota that need to pull out of the Sports markets

There cars brandish the 2 door coupe sports range

    Death to ford and toyota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honda will come back, just give them time

There sports range was getting uber expensive anyways (All they had left was the civic type R and the s2000, and there both quite expensive for what you get)

Yeah i concur. They just need to ride out this finacial crisis. once car sales pickup they can then spend money on the sports car segment again.

Well if I get my way, and god willing I will, Honda will be producing the VC 3000. When i get rich I'll give Honda several million to make a custom car for me and it'll be so awesome everyone will want it....

But seriously, they'll come back with something different. Most cars from now on are gonna be all weird shapes anyway.

The future is going to be, for the large part, small fuel economic vehicles available in automatic. Lets face it, in todays terms the kind of fuel economy i get (approx 10-11L/100km) is basically blasphemy, the new accord euro for instance is sub 10.

There will be cars available that cater to people who want sports cars but they will move away from the traditional ones we know of. The long and the short is that the world wants "A to B" cars not sports cars so "A to B" cars is what the manufacturers are giving us.

Yeah i think the whole "Hot Hatch" thing is picking up alot of momentum becouse all they are is a sports model of a soccer mums car so its cheap and fast and very fuel economical

I also heard Merc and BMW are stearing away from the big v10 and v8 engines and looking into producing mass 4 Cyl with Huge turbos and going the whole jap sports and the v6's with turbos, lets face it aslong as you dont boost all day a 4 Cyl and 15psi still wont eat asmuch petty as a v10 lol

It would be a very bad move to see Honda remove the civic line considering they have diversified it to include both the Civic Hybrid and Type R. It just wouldn't be logical to cut off something that is generating them dollars.

Sad to see the S2000 go but hopefully in the near future Honda come out with something to impress us sports car enthusiasts
