    Peejayy's Progress

I Thought it was about time to make one of these progress threads that are popping up all over PA - because i think i have made some progress...

At first i was hesitant to make one of these threads because as someones signature on PA quotes "I will make a progress thread when I have progress". And frankly my car hasn't had much progress considering i have owned it for 2 years, but I think I have gone through a lot with this car and id like to a) share my experiences and b) educate anyone who can be arsed to have a read. So its not really a "show-off" thread (there's too many more 5th gens on this site that trump mine in that sense) but hopefully it will pan out more like a story if you will...

    SPECS:

    1998 Honda Prelude VTi-R
    Manual 5 speed
    H22A4 Engine
Interior Trim Type: A (stock cloth)

The pictures are of the car as i purchased it 2 years ago. I bought it for quite cheap, with relatively high kms - although I performed a magnitude of mechanical tests on it to ensure its condition.

Lots of pictures of my prelude very early on can be found here:

    EGP 1998 VTi-R Prelude

    AIM:

I bought this car to serve me as my daily drive. So immediately anything radical was out of the question. No Dumpage, No lumpy cams, No decreasing fuel efficiency. I bought the prelde as a cruiser and have attempted to improve on its strong points. The prelude isnt a fast car (relatively), but instead its a zippy stylish cruiser. These are fundamentals i tried to stick to whilst i modified the car to how i wanted it.

    However above all, i wanted to maintain a stock look. I wanted people to look at my car and not be able to blatantly point out modifications that i have done. As members of this forum, most people will be able to pick out everything and anything. But hopefully the majority of the general public wont. My motto is;

    "STOCK BUT NOT...."

I dont modify my own car to be different - Just what I like and think will benefit me/the car.

**As most of the modifications and projects that i have done on the car have been done on the past, over the next few days/week i will slowly update this thread to bring the thread up to speed with my car. I will aim to be pretty detailed - i want to do this for the forum, but also for my own personal log to the work ive done to the car - As a result if anyone has questions progress specific fire away, but keep in mind that this thread will be lagging behind actual progress for a few days**

    The Final Product:

These following PARTS will be my progress in hindsight, more like a detailed explanation of the relevant fields; AFter these are updated ill continue with progress as normal...
    PART I: SPECIFICATIONS
    PART II: AUDIO INSTALLATION
    PART III: PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS
    PART IV: INTERIOR
    PART V: MAINTANANCE: PROBLEMS

    Thoughts and criticisms are welcome

I will take a proper photoshoot soon and also a full run down of all the 'modifications' ive done to the beast

i thought you wanted to keep the stock rims.
the new ones look way better in my opinion anyway.
    looks hot!

how are the eye lids coming along?

Haha, you know more than anyone else how long ive been lusting after these Rims. For those who dont know they are '04 - '06 RSX TYpe S rims. A lot of people in the US put them on their 5th gens.

I knew i'd get busted for this. But yeah i was trying to get at no FI or crazy NA set ups. Xforce Headers and other little stuff are also probably hurting my Fuel consumption, as well as the added weight of 2 RF amps and a subwoofer...

thanks for the kind comments so far guys.

if you get a apexi neo and tune it up it will run leaner so you will compensate for that little decrease in fuel efficency.

good choice on the rims. they suit nicely, i havnt seen on 5th gen b4.

imo, dump it 1 inch all round, and lose the red calipers. gold/black/ silver colours would look better i rkn.

Thanks dude. The rims are quite common in the U.S. A few of their members have doen it and it was a proven recipe IMO. Snapped these rims up at first chance i got. Went well with my OEM theme.

a 1 inch drop will made the ride height nice, but im running 45 profile tyre, instead of 40 (for various reasons) So it fills the guards PERFECTLY. one finger gap on top of wheel and on the sides. But the ride height isnt impractically low. The car already has a 1.75" drop.

Thanks for the suggestion about the calipers. Now that you have mentioned it i think you might be right. maybe ill go with a dark gunmetal grey and detail it with a nice white HONDA stencil or something like that.... ill also paint that horrid looking rusty wheel hub. Cheers for the suggestion!

Very smooth, stylish and complete look you have going on there. Typically it takes a fairly heavily modified 5th gen to perk my interest but what you've done there is enchance that luxury styling the 5th gen has. Much props.
