    Question:

When changing out the rods and pistons, inevitably changing the reciprocating mass of the engine in comparison to stock, how does this affect the action of the balancer shafts? (I'm making the assumption that the H23, like the H22, has balancer shafts.) The shafts are weighted to work with a specific reciprocating mass and changing this mass will evidently cause the balancer shafts to be incorrectly weighted to counter measure this reciprocating mass.

would this be compensated for when the crank gets re-balanced with the pistons and rods connected? (does this even happen? I know the crank gets re-balanced but I dont know enough as to whether this is with or without rods and piston heads)

    Just my thinking?

if balancing is done properly it will be done with everything that attaches to the crank in place

piston, rods, crank pulley, flywheel, clutch pressure plate

    Its all happening!

Pistons/rods are down at the engine shop. He said I should get the block back by the end of next week!

The entire rotating assembly will be balanced. The block is being bored out .25 and then honed.

Header wrapping the dump pipe. About to wrap the turbo manifold.

    Intercooler installed!
I cut the factory lower radiator mounts off a wrecked prelude, then drilled and bolted them to the front crossmember in the right place. The cooler sits nicely in the factory rubber grommets!
The top mount is a bracket made of aluminium with another "L" bracket off the lower bolt from the hood latch. This was a pain to get right, but I think the end result speaks for itself. The cooler sits sturdy as a rock. And the piping will clear the bumper without any cutting/modification.

I'm retaining the A/C and the JDM foglights

Copy cat!!! Haha, noice - VERY noice!
Did you end up deciding to keep the balancer shafts?
And you've gone +25 bore I see. What psi are you planning to push with these puppies?
The path of Honda is beset on all sides by the iniquities of Mazda and the tyranny of Nissan. Blessed is the Honda owner who in the name of handling and performance shepherds his Honda through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his Honda's keeper and the finder of lost kilowatts. And I will strike down upon thee with great acceleration and furious VTEC those who attempt to overtake and destroy my Hondas. And you will know my name is PRELUDE when I lay my VTEC upon thee.

I cant help that Mahle are the only supplier of pistons for a H22 (without resleeving). And Pauter makes the best H23 rods available.

    I'm keeping the balancer shafts.
Yup, +.25 bore. No limit on the PSI. I'll stop pushing it when it stops making power...

or when I cant supply it enough fuel...

or when the EGT's get too high...

SHHHH! no talk of anything going "boom" in my thread thanks. Nothing will go "boom".

Honestly though PSI doesnt matter a fig. Let me explain.

    Big turbo + 10psi = 2x as much air as Small turbo + 10psi...
If someone comes up to you and says I'm running 10pounds of boost I'm awesome. You should ask them for the size of the compressor wheel before you say "wow, you really are awesome!".

A horsepower goal is a much better thing to ask.

    Oh yeah... lol.

Is there actually a power figure you are aiming for? Or is this just a case of as much as possible
