Removal of the cover plate for fuel pump. The misus kindly helped by holding tools and pinching my finger in a pair of needle nose pliers

Cover Plate and fuel pump off. You can see just how much room Mr Honda left us to remove the fuel pump.

Soldering wires on the fuel pump.

    Wires all soldered.

Comparison of the fuel pumps. Old Honda on the right, new Walbro pump on the left.

Close up of the epoxy job I did on the soldered wire. Electrical tape will disintegrate when it comes into contact with fuel.

New Fuel pump completely installed into housing.

A new pic of the engine bay to finish off

Walbro is a decent unit. Louder than OEM but it does the job well.

Interesting that you needed to solder on a new connector. 5th Gen OEM connector plugs straight into the Walbro.

With the 4th gen oem fuel pump it was actually connected with terminals and crimp connections. The walbro came with the connector to solder on.

Re-installed the fuel pump last night - everything went back a lot easier than it came out. I'm a little bit concerned that the "baggie" at the bottom of the fuel pump of a walbro is about half the size of the oem one. Is this gonna cause a problem with fuel delivery?

Oh well, I guess we'll find out down the track when I get her running again.

    Nice work Steve!

I use the same fuel pump in my lude. I have always been paranoid about that filter... Wondering, if the fuel level gets low.. will it still suck fuel up?

never had it on the road long enough to really find out!

I got home today to find these had arrived in the mail! I'm off to the engine builder tomorrow. Extremely excited!!!!!

Mahle Pistons and Pauter Rods. These dont require re-sleeving of the block. These are the -7cc dish pistons and H23 rods to go with my H23 crank. The car should run around 10:1 comp ratio when the motor's back together.

Yeah - it turns out Pauter are one of the 2 or 3 companies that make H23 rods - and Pauter are the cheapest/biggest rods of the available options.

I just weighed one Pauter Rod and Mahle Piston (with wrist pin/lock etc included).

    Exactly 2.25lbs. Which is 1.02kg.

I will be weighing the stock rod/piston combo when I get a chance.
