Hey, i'm posting in the 4th gen section about transmissions ok... I dont need you stooges hastling me about my turbo setup when i'm DOING IT!!!!

    Parts list already aquired:
JDM h22 Manual Trans (being rebuilt)
    Cusco LSD (being installed)
    Exedy HD Cushion Button Clutch

    Parts waiting on:
Fidanza Flywheel (Elee is hopefuly bringing it up with him)

Once I've got everything I will be installing this and it'll be another step closer to Prelude turbo goodness. Photos will appear of course. Also, I have a few new shots of the sump which has had some fittings welded on it for turbo oil return and oil temp sensor. I'll put those up sometime.

    Parts looking for:
AEM lightweight pulley kit (annodized blue)

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to rebuild a Honda head in Brisbane? I'm looking for port n polish, valves/valvesprings/retainers and portmatched intake manifold/throttle body etc.

Parts I need to buy (possibly from honda unless someones got some better suggestions):
    New CV Joints
    New Power Steer Boots
    Upper & Lower Ball Joints

Anyone got some other suggestions on replacable items around the gearbox...

the guy on CB that built the 500hp 180sx IDR46 uses Chilton Engineering for his machining, he's located in Woolangabba. Wreckons he is pretty good and hasnt had any problems with them.

    Just a little update:
I'm purchasing parts for the install of the gearbox/clutch/flywheel. I am replacing most of the front end parts so that everything will all be renewed and known to be good when I swap it in.

I gave Honda a call to check out what they wanted for the different parts, here's a little laugh for you guys.

CV Joint & Driveshaft Left: $770
CV Joint & Driveshaft Right: $746

    Intermediate Shaft: $480

Upper or Lower Ball Joints: 461each.
(Honda does not sell a ball joint without the full arm attached.)

    Wheel Bearings Front: $176
    Wheel Bearings Rear: $372
(Honda does not sell wheel bearings without a full hub assy.)

The guy on the other end of the phone asked me if I was sitting down when he read out the prices! he knew I was going to go look on the net anyway. We laughed about how expensive it was and how dodgey it was to have to buy a whole arm just to get a new ball joint.

Ok so onto the real update... Here's what I'm purchasing.

Lower Ball Joints: US$20 World Suspension
(front and rear are the same on 4th gens)

Upper Ball Joints: US$378 Velocity Technologies
    (SPC aftermarket camber adjustable)

Driveshafts: $110 a side CV Joint Specialist

With regards to the Wheel Bearings, I am considering taking my hubs down to a local bearing shop and seeing what they have to say about them. I'm wondering if somewhere could rebuild or fit a new bearing to the pre-existing hubs.

Anyways thats about all for now.

hahaha so you are going to get the camber kit. The SPC one is great! Beware on a really lowered lude though (like yours), it can hit.

ummm trying to remember as I left them in my other car when it sold. Put it this way, lowest point on the car was the cat converter at 100mm and it didn't hit, not sure how much lower you could go before it hit. I think it's about 10mm above the control arm, definately no more. Asjz and RacingHonda have them as well I believe. Ask them?

It patrols the streets of Brisbane every day! Just hasnt got the turbo motor in it...
I have almost an entire car's worth of parts sitting waiting to go into it - collecting dust in the shed

In case people are looking for it, here is a detailed write up of the removal/dissasembly of driveshafts and intermediate shafts.

    Driveshafts / Intermediate Shaft

And this is the parts I need for the intermediate shaft (the parts labelled "replace"). Why doesnt Honda sell a kit to replace the parts on this thing?

haha I know you have! and trust me, it will happen soon... really soon...

    I've ordered:
    1. Driveshafts
    2. Lower Ball Joints
    3. Upper Ball Joints

    still looking for:
    Intermediate shaft parts
    Wheel Bearings

Once I get these parts in the garage, an install weekend will happen. The car will go up on jackstands and the gearbox assy will come out.

We'll be practically rebuilding the entire frontend of the car!

With the current exchange rate Steve, US$20 is almost what Honda quoted you anyway!!!
I've yet to order an independent throttle body which is US$2200, wishing I'd bought it 6 weeks ago!!

Good work though man, you're so close!
The path of Honda is beset on all sides by the iniquities of Mazda and the tyranny of Nissan. Blessed is the Honda owner who in the name of handling and performance shepherds his Honda through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his Honda's keeper and the finder of lost kilowatts. And I will strike down upon thee with great acceleration and furious VTEC those who attempt to overtake and destroy my Hondas. And you will know my name is PRELUDE when I lay my VTEC upon thee.
