I turned it over today. Yes I finally got everything sorted out in the enginebay and turned the key. It turns over and starts for 5 sec, then dies.

Its likely an electronic issues (possibly with the timing/fuel mixture) but happy to say, the mechanical side of things seems to have no issues. No oil leaks, no fuel leaks, no coolant leaks so far.

Pretty happy with how things went today. And a big thanks to Ian - who came round today to help out while being hungover! and Scotty for giving me a hand with some tidy soldering once again.

Will take some photos tomorrow to show the things i've done.
Nice one Steve! Must be refreshing to know the heart beats

Actually this was a good thought, however we went through and checked everything immobiliser related and the alarm seems to be working 100%

It beats for a few seconds at least!

Good news is yesterday we made a lot of progress with the ECU. Basically pulled it out and took it all apart and resoldered everything. Then pulled connections off the sensors until we found the O2 sensor was playing up.

It now runs off the custom maps I've put on the chip instead of flicking straight to limp mode with a solid CEL.

Next step is to sort out the timing/fuel so that it starts!

I know I promised pics, but I havent had a chance to take any yet. Will get onto that soon.

    Two words...

    IT RUNS!

Yes, Ian and Dan both witnessed today the first day of the engine firing up, and idling correctly. I'm talking smooth start no nasty noises, no misfiring beautiful idle.

Dan happened to capture the moment on video. I'm sure he'll post it up here when he gets his ass into gear

Turns out, the reason it wasnt firing up or idling right. One of my fuel injectors wasnt plugged in fully. After pulling the fuel rail and shooting fuel across the garage with the injectors, we determined that one injector was totally dead. Fiddled with the connector on it and suddenly it was completely alive.

Should've known it'd be something stupid like that.

But the best part of it all is... IT RUNS!

    Yep, sorry for the delay.

Folks, it's just quick and dirty upload of phone video files to youtube this time so no fancy music or editing I'm afraid

3 vids from "almost starting" (tweaking the initial basemap) to "just starting" (hunting from a vacuum leak) and then "idling smoothly" (vacuum leak fixed and distributor timing set).
