That clock spring is for the airbag yeah?
The path of Honda is beset on all sides by the iniquities of Mazda and the tyranny of Nissan. Blessed is the Honda owner who in the name of handling and performance shepherds his Honda through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his Honda's keeper and the finder of lost kilowatts. And I will strike down upon thee with great acceleration and furious VTEC those who attempt to overtake and destroy my Hondas. And you will know my name is PRELUDE when I lay my VTEC upon thee.

Yep its for the airbag. Its the factory prelude one. But I had to modify the wiring inside the s2k wheel to make it work. Simply swapped the connectors over

I luckily got all the wiring with my s2k wheel to be able to do that quickly and easily.

I got bored and started playing around with a spare gauge cluster and my Neptune Tunerview. For those that dont know what this is, check out here:

I ordered the small one deliberately so I could hook it up where the clock display normally is. The clock display will fit nicely in one of the warning light holes.

Actually I can, but as soon as you hit the plastic with a dremel, you get nasty ball up of melted plastic around your cutting disc. Sucks.

I'm going to clean up the edges.

I don't think you'll notice it under the perspex. Should look fine.

^^ Yeah my guess too. I'm thinking you'd win that bet.

but it could be a microchip micro looking at the location of the xtal...And an early model given the external USB ic.

Ian is correct - its an Atmel ATMEGA644P

In further news - I received a package today:

    Silicone couplers

The t-bolt clamps are nice quality, and the silicone couplers are 5 layer thick.

I'd like to put a shout out to Ottomoto for their excellent fast email response and even faster shipping. Here's the website: http://www.otomoto.com.au/kkr/

    Enjoy.

So some might know I had a tweeter die on me. And in a run of bad luck I purchased some second hand speakers from a guy on http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au - the exact same as the ones I already had in the car... SPX-177a Alpine. They're the Type-X speakers from around 2004 and they are made in denmark (new alpines dont compare as they're made in China).

So the second hand ones arrive BOTH TWEETERS ARE DEAD! I felt like packing up and selling the car and leaving it all behind after dicking around with them for hours.

After the week went by I calmed down somewhat and did some research on repairing tweeters and dead speakers and decided "What can I lose?".

Uncle Ian came round and gave me a hand with the car on Saturday and we accomplished a hell of a lot! Including the repair of the tweeter following this guide I found: http://soundt.18.forumer.com/index.p...topic=908&st=0

    The tweeter

    The grille removed

    Removing the tweeter diaphragm

You can see the little leads running to the tweeter voice coil and although it was not physically broken, testing the lengths of the leads with a multimeter discovered that sections of the leads had broken in the life of the tweeter.

I snipped the leads short close to the voice coil and soldered a new strand of copper to the leads. Then glued the diaphragm back in place with some model making glue.

To my great excitement it works! I was really happy.

I also bought a new amp for the system - the new PDX 2010 model amp from Alpine. This thing can really put out some juice with 4x100 RMS outputs and a really tiny footprint. Perfect for hiding in the boot under the trims.

    The amplifier...

We then removed my sideskirts (harder than it sounds because I have aftermarket skirts that are glued to the fenders...

Once they were off Ian and I replaced the driver's side door hinge with prelude passenger side hinges. We also found some surface rust that might've caused problems later so I went about masking and painting the areas with some white killrust. (not quite the same colour but you can't tell once everything's back on.

I also had some Ultra Racing fender braces arrive so I took the opportunity to install these.

Braces installed... I will be tidying up the fender wiring before the body panels go back on.

    Enjoy folks.

What the hell. I've never seen fender braces before. Very cool. Any plans of a 3 point front strut brace to tie it all in?
