Quoted for emphasis. Brakes are IMPORTANT! Probably the second most worthwile upgrade to ANY car after tyres! And brake feel is important too, with no brake feel it's easy to misjudge how much brake force you need. That small error in judgement can land you in big trouble...

EDIT: oh yeah, are you just upgrading the front brakes or all 4? Probably get away with just the fronts yeah?

Definately just the front brakes upgrade. No need to do the rears. The front brakes do 90% of the stopping anyhow.

We were mocking up intercooler piping and fabricating it so I can get it welded. While we were doing so, we decided to do a little test with the body panels for clearances on the intercooler / turbo manifold with the hood and the bumper. All is good! Took some pics (dont mind the dirty bumper - its been neglected for over a year now).

Its worthy of mention, the bonnet is not actually closed fully in this shot - the latch isnt hooked up to its release so I didnt click it all the way down. However visual inspection through the holes where the headlights should be clearly show there's plenty of clearance between the manifold and the hood.

The intercooler safely nestled in its place behind the front bumper. Nothing too "look at me i'm turbo" going on here. Keeping it nice and simple.

    Enjoy.

    Not a f*cking chance.

I cant stand massive holes in bumpers randomly cut with intercooler piping visible from the front, how rediculous.

This is the perfect setup with an appropriately sized cooler and when I clean up that nasty hole in 3rd, i'll be runnin nines!

Its on a long list of considerations. At this point it'll stay as is. Its kinda sleeper but still visible for those that have a good eye.

So yeah, I understand that the bigger the better, the main thing I was comparing were the VTiR brakes compared to the 3rd gens. The 20mm would be a big difference right? All im asking is how sticky does a tyre have to be for a vtir brake to not be able to lock them.
Of course there are the other factors that have been mentioned, but on the street its mainly emergency stopping power.
I am running KU36 Semi Slicks With standard S brake calipers and vented and slotted disks. On the street they do lock if you slam them on or brake a touch hard from highway speed. However, they jump from solid braking to locking and do not have the proper pedal feel.

On the track these brakes lasted all of four laps before majorly over heating and becoming useless around Morgan Park. On the track the brakes did not have enough power to lock the wheels. I think this DC5R Brembo upgrade is a great idea. My car WILL NOT need that amount if stopping power for the street, but IT WILL need it for the track.
    No crap here SR love.

    mmmmmm nice.

I'm not sure about painting it black either. To go totally sleeper then yes do it but if you want a little show then leave it.

Yeah I'm thinking it'll go either white or gunmetal.
