lol, sarcasm doesnt convey too well over the internet. I dont want a red and lime green set of aircon lines on my car.

Dude came round thismorning and we discussed the possibilities and we worked out how the lines will be run. He's coming back next saturday (was unavailable this weekend) and he'll make up a template so the hardlines can be bent to shape.

He's going to make all the hard lines up and then when the engine's in I'll get him back to put in the soft lines to the power steer pump and AC compressor.

So I went shopping at the wreckers on Saturday and came away with a bunch of goodies off various cars for the prelude!

    Holden Astra - charcoal canister
Toyota Corolla - engine oil cooler
Ford Mondeo - power steering reservoir
    Holden Commodore - cruise control

The holden astra charcoal canister fits in under the driver's front fender... fit almost perfectly in the same place on the prelude - had to do a couple of little modifications. It will mean i can get rid of the big ugly one in the enginebay of a prelude - tucked!

Charcoal canister allows pressure relief from the fuel tank when it gets hot and expands...

    Charcoal Canister:

Corolla oil cooler replaces the prelude stock power steering cooler - its a lot smaller and will fit in with my intercooler and stuff. Will be tucked behind the front bumper.

    Cooler:

Ford Mondeo power steering reservior fits nicely between the shock tower and firewall and is shaped to fit. Looks a lot nicer than the stock prelude one at the front of the shock tower - allows me to tuck the lines in under the guard on passenger side.

    Reservoir (not mounted 100% yet):

Holden Commodore cruise control system from a VY commodore... its a fully electric one that has no vacuum connections - means its a lot smaller and i've hidden it in the front guard too... just gotta run the wiring from the prelude cruise unit in a new harness to the new location.. then i gotta match up the wires to the commodore harness...

    Cruise Control:

I cut apart a stock honda cruise unit so I could make an adapter harness:

    The harness I'm making:

Does the Cruise system have a mechanical actuator for the TB? Isn't the Commodore a drive by wire thing?

    Lots of good ideas there.

Second photo shows the mechanical cable for the cruise. Not a drive by wire thing at all.
The cable hooked straight into the prelude pedal like stock!

    Fresh ideas, changing the game

I think the VY must have been the last of the Commo's with a cable operated throttle, the one we ripped this unit off definitely had a cable from the pedal to the throttle body. And yeah originally this cruise unit operated the throttle body directly, but Steve managed to fit it to the cruise lever on the pedal quite nicely.
