Got stuck into wiring up the motor on the weekend - here's a sneek preview at my wire-tucking efforts...

I'm trying to do it with the least possible amount of extending wires. However I am re-wrapping everything with flame retardant braided wrap.

I then got stuck into my valve cover and painted the lower engine cover. Here's how the timing belt side of the engine will pretty much look when the car's done.

    And the valve cover.

I then installed my oil feed line for the turbo. Its an adaptor for the factory oil pressure sensor port. The factory sensor is then installed into the back of it.

    Enjoy.

It is normally black. I painted mine gunmetal grey. And if you'd ever seen an enginecover off a motor that'd been on a car for more than 10yrs you'd wanna paint it too. It was filthy and no amount of degreaser/cleaning was going to get rid of the grease stains.

Expecting to have the engine in and running before christmas.

So over the course of the week I happened to come into some fortune and obtained two rather nice chunks of polished aluminium. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

    Aluminium Radiator. Thanks MattyK!

    EGR Blockoff Plate. Thanks Ian!

Dayum!!! That looks good! Did Ian fab the plate for you? I was just looking at a blockoff plate on eBay, US$7 but the freight is probably gonna be $30!

Ian has what's known as a "copyrouter" at work. It allows you to machine a copy of a template into a new chunk of metal.

After breaking the routing bit on the router, I'm not sure how keen Ian is to try making more...

The better method for EGR block-off is to install a plate like that but re-install the EGR valve on top of it. If you do not re-install the EGR valve and sensor connector you can throw a CEL light and ECU codes.

I've run without a functioning EGR valve for 2.5 years, by removing the EGR valve from the intake system but leaving the EGR valve connected to both the vacuum system and electrical system and it's never thrown a CEL or ECU code.

the EGR can be turned off with the tunable ECU, it won't be a problem, and the plate i made looks far better
