Dont know if you noticed but there's a giant engine mount directly below the turbo dude... I'm heat wrapping the dump pipe and braided line. Should be all good.

So I've got another update after a long time of being slack about this build!

I got bored of the turbo and wastegate looking ugly so I cleaned them up and painted the rusty bits with some high temp charcole/metallic paint.

And here's what you've all been waiting for - the h22 is pulled apart!
Photos of the Head and associated bits...

^ did this for a bit of a laugh - all removed bolts are labeled

    intake manifold.

    the block.

    the head.

New throttle body on intake manifold - this will be port matched and cleaned up

    Camshafts

Rockers - minor wear, I will get them resurfaced or replaced.

These last two shots are from today's efforts with the gauge pod. I did a lot of sanding and some painting.
I'm having trouble stopping the paint from going a little bit flakey in spots. I cant get the surface to be uniform smooth.
I want this piece to be perfect as I will be looking at it every day.

Also, in case you didnt know how V-TEC works, watch this video.

    http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=q24D0xv49d4

The middle lobe on the camshaft is the vtec cam.

I forgot to mention, also - I am taking the Head from the H22 down to my local engine builders. They're called PLR Engine Reconditioning for anyone who's interested.

    http://plr-engine-reconditioning.com.au/

I am going to get the following done:
    1. Hot-Tank (make it look all new and shiny)
    2. Crack tested/resurfaced so its straight.
    3. Valves machined or replaced
    4. All seals replaced
    5. Port and Polish
    6. Port match of throttle body/intake manifold/head/exhaust manifold
    7. Flow test
    8. anything else they recommend.

How much is it costing you to get that head work done?

Each job they do is custom. So I dont really know the exact price for the work yet.

Depending on the flow test, I have an estimate figure of around 6-700 for the work.

Well the guy seemed pretty down to earth and wasnt promising anything bullshit like "with these mods you'll make XXhp" etc. He simply said, this is what I recommend doing, and I dont recommend this...

and I said "ok, do what you recommend mate" and left him to it.

If he completely stuffs it up, he can buy me a new head

From what I understood, he isnt going to be removing much material as honda's are well designed from factory for good flow. Instead he's just smoothing out casting marks and buildup of crap from being driven 160thou kms..

I look forward to seeing it once he's done. I will make sure to show you guys his work too.

Sorry for the large pics, but I felt they were required for this:

The results of getting the head reconditioned and flow tested. The shots with 2 lined up side by side are a BEFORE and AFTER shot showing the increase in flow on the intake and exhaust sides of the head.

Ok so how do you read that? What do you glean from it?
It doesn't look like it changed much to me?
