Yep, dont forget my front mount is "solid". The tilting pivot is the front mount - so it should be fine. Honda Engines want to tilt forwards when you rev them anyway.

It will tilt foward when free reving. But under traction load from the transmission (tyres) it will tilt back won't it...? (corect me if i'm wrong...!)

Having said that, and in consideration of the fact that your front engine mount is solid. Heave acceleration should only create more clearance between the manifold and the bonnet. Not true for heavy engine breaking though. (unless my physics is all shot...!)

Yeah, you can actually buy a kit on Ebay to do that to your bonnet....
(i'm going to get one..... Right after I cover my car with bullet hole stickers...!)

Yes it will. Regardless of which way the internals are spinning, the engine will want to tilt backwards as the wheels accelerate in a forward direction. Same thing will happen as the clutch is engaged into a forward gear.

The solid mount should resist this. And hopefully resist the shock loading that will occur when the clutch is engaged aggressively. You might get a bit of vibration through the car under acceleration though.

The reaction from revving will also cause the engine to tilt backwards. The engine spins in the same direction of the wheels, just like every other front wheel drive car. It is only said to be spinning backwards because it spins anticlockwise when looking at the engine from the balancer pulley.

81 x 95..... probably could have made a decent tractor engine

So I have some exciting news from the weekend. The car finally runs!

I finally got the exhaust done last week - towed her down to the local shop with a hired trailer. Then towed her home again.

Hire Trailer 1. Tyre blowout at 60km/hr on the way there with the car on it.
Hire Trailer 2. Loading car up onto trailer and the winch let go half way up the ramps. I was hanging onto the steering wheel at the time!

    Hire trailers are bullshit.

So this weekend's news, Ian came round and we tried to figure out why the hell it wouldnt start/run for the last 2-3 weeks of trying.
After a combination of a flooded engine / incorrect o2 readings / some tuning of the fuel map / the throttle body not letting in enough air... woo hoo! the car finally idles and runs!

I've driven it down to the local servo and back with really nice AFR's and no bad things to report. I even managed a nice 7psi of boost at 4000rpm. I'm totally over the moon.

Anyway, enough rambling - here's some pics of my recent progress.

DIE Reflect-A-Gold heat reflective tape. This is my solution for keeping the heat off the hood.

And here's the running engine - so happy with her right now!

I'm going to be booking it in for some dyno time in the next 2 or 3 weeks... I'm not going to be driving it without a full tune and some dyno time. I dont want something stupid to happen and ruin my hard work.
