Im not a big commodore kinda guy but one of my best mates has a VX SS SII with the LS1 in it and its an absoloute beast. Reg is LTHLS-1. Get ready for some increased fuel bills hehehe.

Im in the same boat though, ill be selling my S2 gen 3 soon as i have it back from the pannel shop who are respraying my door thanks to some kind soul who decided to carve an 'X' into it and ill be getting a TT supra so big fuel bills will also follow for me.

Oh well, im sure you'll enjoy the monstrous power upgrade. I hope it's enough for you to forgive the woeful steering!

PS: just unwrapped the sideskirts, you've done well to keep them so scratch free. Cheers

You're not a bogan if its a Calais. Enjoy the new car. Sounds great.

Yeah it is a massive power upgrade, and the fuel bill is a bit higher, but so far its averaged 9.9L/100km, and i was on the ring road today in peak with the stop start stop start. on the highway/freeway its awesome, only 8.4 average so far, but around town it doesn't drink fuel, it sculls.

No worries, I hope you'll be as happy with them as I was.

For an update, I gave up on the yacht that was the Calais, and went for a smaller car again. My choice was between an S2000, MX-5, 370Z or MR2.
The MR2 didn't really fit the bill, the 370Z was a no-no as soon as I sat in one (it felt cumbersome), and as much as I wanted to get back into the Honda family, I could not pass up this beauty after taking it for a test drive:

That felt better than a 370?? Not to mention no where near as fast. I guess everyone has their own preference. Good luck with the car

To me the 370 just felt like a large car stuck in a smaller chassis. After the 5.7L, I really don't care as much about the power as the way the car feels to drive.
But you are right, everyone has their own preference.
