    September COTM **Chris_melba**

Sorry about the delay in posting it up!!
But congrats to Chris_melba for winning Septembers CAR OF THE MONTH..
    WHAT A GREAT RIDE!!!!!!

    His Story:
Well to start with, this isn’t technically my ‘lude. It’s still registered in my Dads name. He gave it to me 2 years ago after doing in his back meant he couldn’t get low enough to sit in it any more (yes I do feel slightly bad about lowering it since then). Since I’ve had it, it’s been my most prized possession. I’ve loved Honda’s my whole life because my father is a Honda fanatic as well so getting this car was a dream come true for an 18 year old me. I never initially planned to mod my car, I loved it as it was, but when one of the rear speakers started crackling I thought “better replace that.” After several trips to the audio stall and several days pulling the car apart I somehow had changed from “replacing the rears” to gutting the entire system and replacing it with full sub, amp head combo running to ten times my initial budget. From then on I’ve been steadily modding my car to the shape you see it in today

    Mods
    Exterior
    Genuine Mugen front bar

    Projector headlights
    Halo’s
    Custom Black side indicators
    Tinted tail lights and indicators
    Black front indicators
Buddyclub P1 Racing Spec II+ Rims
    Graphite coloured badging
    35% Tinted windows
    Meshed nostrils and air dam

    Suspension
    SportsRyda Springs

    Touring Black gas struts
    Falken FK452 Tyres

    Engine
Simota Intake Piping (in the post)

Apexi’ Power Pod filter (also in the post)

    Audio
    Alpine CDA-9853 Head Unit
    Alpine MRV-456 560W Amp
    Alpine Type-S 12" Sub
    Alpine SPS-171A Splits up front
Alpine SPS-170A Coaxials in the rear
Soundoff Sound deadening in the doors

    Interior
    Ultimate Auto Trim Seat covers
    Isotta Evo-350 Steering wheel
    Centre Console Lighting

    Jem's Corner
    What's you're Favourite Mod?

My favorite mod is definitely the front bar, ever since seeing skinnyboys ride I’ve loved how much more meaty it makes the front of the car while keeping the smooth flowing lines that I love about the 4th gen. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found one for sale in Aus.

If you had you're time to redo everything again what would you do or not do?
If I could start over I might try to plan out my car a bit more. As it is I often just get bored on a weekend and think “Hey I think I’ll tint my tail lights” and run down to AutoPro

How long have you had the prelude for?
It’s been my fathers since 1999. It was the first car I ever drove when I got my L plates. As soon as I got my P’s though the insurance wouldn’t cover me so I had to wait until two years ago to drive it again.

If you could have another Model Prelude - What would it be?
I’d love to have a turbo 3rd gen. Robbotheyobbo’s car is absolutely gorgeous with its huge front mount. Owning something like that would be great.

How long did it take you to decide what Mods to do?
Some mods, like my wheels I planned for ages. But most of the cheaper mods (colour coding etc) I just came up with the idea one week and carried it out on the weekend.

Where did you get your ideas?
The first major appearance mod I did was my wheels. I loved the dark colour of them, since then I’ve done my best to make the rest of the car a bit darker, hence all the tinted/black lighting. Although I could never drive a crazy looking autosalon car I’m a ricer at heart, hence the almost complete lack of engine mods. But I build a race car at uni so I feel that balances out some of my sins.

Did you do majority of the Mods yourself?
I did most of the work myself, and when I say “by myself” I have to give HUUUUUUGE props to my mate Joe, who was by my side for most of the mods lending his unique brand of help. I got a body shop to fit the kit, and left the lowering to the professionals as well.

Do you have a name for your lude?
I just call her “My Beautiful” not really a name as such though

What Mods did it have when you bought it?
When Dad bought it, it had an Alpine Head Unit, it was replaced when I upgraded the Audio

    Next Mod?
I need to do the door panels in the same colour as the seats, and I’d like an Accord rear lip and some kind of skirts to finish the kit.

    Future Aspirations for Prelude?
I’d like to do a bit more engine work in future. Elee has drawn me up a intake/headers/exhaust + ecu plan which I’ll put together piece by piece next year. Hopefully make a bit more torque than most ‘ludes since I’m running an H23A instead of the H22A

How do you find the police are towards your lude? Any story's?
Never even been noticed by the cops in my ‘lude, got pulled over in my Mums Jazz once for speeding which I thought was funny since I had a clean record in my ‘lude

Glad as I am that I won, I am sorry that I beat you after you got so many more votes than me. If you look at the voting for October post, it looks like they've changed the rules to say you have to still own the car to be eligible.

Yeah, definitely want side lips and a rear lip within the next few months. Removing the mudflaps is probably a good idea too.

Thanks man, me too I was nearly going to go for Spec I buddy clubs right up until my sister pointed out that they looked almost exactly like 6 spoke versions of her jazz wheels. Then I decided to go with something a little more interesting but still keep that clean buddy club look.
