Bob's Turbo Progress Thread - Project B Spec

    3g B20A build

Ive started this thread as a bit of a record of what I'm doing.

First off...Huge thanks to my wife for letting me do this. I hope it all runs when I'm finished otherwise I'll be in strife.

The plan is to turbo the gen 3. Aiming for a reliable daily driven 150kW atw.

I'll be posting up bits and pieces as i go, keeping in mind this is a LONG term project....

I've acquired a built short block with slightly lower compression pistons. Forged rods, ARP blots, ACL bearings, Forged pistons. Plus a head and a 5 speed Quaife LSD transmission. Courtesy of Flipmods.

    This is my workshop

Reference photo before I get changing more things

Mounting the engine to the stand
    block thread depth. (~30mm)

Add the length of the engine stand boss, to the thread depth and that is the bolt length you are chasing.

You need 3off M12x1.25 bolts. The 4th can be a cheaper easier to get M12 course thread or maybe 7/16" for all the non metric people. This bolt will need to be longer to go through the lower rear mounting hole on the block. The boss on the engine block for this location is 50mm thick.

    Bolts I've used are:
    3 off M12x1.25 100mm long
    1 off M12x1.75 140mm long with nut

The boss on my engine stand is 70mm long.

    awesome stuff Roberto!

Whats your timeframe for this? Remember that all estimates are at least double to the original planned result! That goes for time and money.

its an unused back bedroom. Timeframe 12-18months. And yeah a bit of a jigsaw but Flip was a legend and supplied a lot of stuff that I needed so it wont be as bad as it could have been.

Latest acquisition is a set of mfactory cam gears, oil block adapter and oil catch can.

Oil block adaptor mounted to the engine (it fits the engine)

photo of clearance for oil filter in the car (without oil block). I hope it fits. I'll check it at the next oil change.

Edit: Later pic installed with gauges
