go to jaycar n get some of that speaker foam tape stuff, its dark grey sticky on one side n its sorta spongy. wrap that around the bar n it might help with your rattle.

Hey all. Took the boot to bits today and got the speakers out (two bolts sheared? wtf?) to have a looksie and see what was causing the problem. I found out (ripped material around the edge of the cone and a screw rattling around in one of them; wtf * 2) so now I'm strongly leaning towards replacing.
Would it be hard to transplant the female connector from the stock speakers onto an aftermarket unit? Not keen on a cut and solder.

    UPDATE O CLOCK
Jaycar has discontinued their six inch speaker range so I got some 300w kingwood babies and chucked them in. Hacked the plugs off the stockies and soldered them on so they can be unplugged in future, they clear the rods (just) and have awesome clarity of sound.
Door speakers next I guess, are they 6 inches too?

They're 6, but you could probably get a 6.5' in there with a proper build out
