    cold start idling problem

like the topic title sugguests im having problems with my idling on cold starts. it sits on higher revs than when the engine is warm but after a little while it drops and revs back up and continues to repeat the cycle. its revs upto a little over 2000rpm then drops under 1000rpm and revs back up and drops back down. it sounds like someone is sitting in my car playing with the accelerator. i just want to have some suggestions on the problems before i take it to some mechanic and get charged a fortune. thanks

Try resetting the computer. (Disconnect the battery, wait short period??, reconnect).
    This might help.

Once it is warm are there any issues with idle?

Preludepower.com is too busy for me to run a search at the moment.

So. On here, try and search "Idle problem" in the 3g section.

And try www.preludepower.com too, same terms "idle problem" or "Idling problem" and select 3rd gen section to search in.

I had a similar problem, due to car misfiring. Ended up being a problem with the EGR valve.

my mates 3rd gen does something similar, it revs up and down when idleing. The mechanic he went to said it was a vacume leak from one of the pipes for the cruise control. My mate pluged the hose up and it worked, so it sounds a bit weird but maybe this is the same problem. Just throwing ideas out there.

once the engine is warm there is no problem. i went to hondatech in thomastown and the dude there said something about some valve. he said it would cost me a couple hundred at max, depending on what it is. he said its something to do with that valve though. :S
