I bought the car in February and I'm loving it apart from the first few timing belt dilemmas.

Didn't have big plans for the car other than to keep it clean but so far I've got DC5 wheels, Clear indicators and done a few cheap fixes (painted window side strips, chrome door handles and did the major service along with the manual tensioner.

Was supposed to be going to the track soon but I need new tyres, brake pads and am considering new shocks/springs and sway bars.

Engine:
H22A4 stock
H23 Manual tensioner conversion

Interior:
Stock

Exterior:
Clear indicators

Suspension:
Integra type R Aus spec gun metal wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport.

ICE:
Stock

Future Mods:
Possibly sway bars, painting sideskirts, decent tyres.


When I first got it when it need of a good detail!



DC5 wheels and clear indicators installed, I know I need to lower! I really need to find a softish spring.

How do you pull off the steering wheel cover to replace the four horn buttons??

is it just a clip on cover or screwed in? I can't seem to see any screws.

Been a member here for a while and thought I should put up my ride.
I brought the car from a family friend late last year,after getting sick of my NA impreza.
Best decision I made was getting a prelude.
Love the car to bits and slowly in the process of starting to do mods to it.
Its got a megaforce cat back system on it currently and a pod filter.
Nothing special yet but all in good.
Being a uni student sucks :P

Hopefully soon to get the front and rear lips and some fog lights:D

Soon i want to replace the door moulds, get a nice set of rims and lower it.

I got a RWC in Vic with the car however, had some issues with noisy front suspension. Went to get it checked out with my mechanic and have been advised that the ball joint should not have passed road worthy due to the movement in the joint.

I took it back to the original RWC tester who has advised that vertical movement int he lower ball joint is acceptable and normal. My mechanic has advised there should be no movement horizontal or vertical.

Having looked around for answers I am now even more confused. It was my understanding that a good ball joint should have absolutely no movement vertically or horizontally.

Can anyone clarify if this is true for the Prelude?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not not a mechanic and unsure about this particular issue. Advantages/Disdavantges? I assume that I may need/be advised to upgrade the power cable from 4 gauge also to cope with the extra power sucked - is it a safety thing or due to power loss? The bolt was already there when I started the job, but the helms manual says use a bolt from the lower cover so I assume you remove it at some stage to put it back. I must admit I dont really understand the tensioning proceedure for both belts.

Im at the stage where Im ready to reinstall the valve tappet cover. Should I pull off the timing covers and remove this bolt? If I do, do I retension the belts again?
