Unfortunatly today I got a flat....the inside of my rear tyres are heavily worn and both rears a pretty much rooted. the sidewall is worn out to the wire and is leaking air.

so my choices are to-A, get 2 new rear tyres for approx, $400

B- save up 4 18s whith new tyres 4 for -$2000

i will get a full wheel alignment when i get the 18s, so that will be roughly ????

i have an si, so 4ws alignment is required, could any body give me a price on what the alignment will cost?

oh reah and my front are pretty worn as well so figure in another $400 down the track, that is y i wanna hold of and get the 18s with tyres

Wheel allignment for a normal car isnt too expensive...around $100-$200 but im not too sure about 4ws allignment...

yeah bob jane used to be good but i don't whether its a staff issue or not but they couldn't fix my wheel balance and aligment properly so i just took it to ttf and they did a great job.

$60 - $70 is the alignment cost for 4ws, they got the laser machine to do it
but if you want camber adjustment its another $60

before you buy anything first get your alignment.

Then from the results of that, make a decision. Not every place can do a 4WS alignment. Honda of course can do this, but not sure where you are from. Tyrepower sunshine (melbourne) can also do this.

Tyrepower Sunshine do it very well and the price is about $50-$60 from what I remember. But only one guy there can do it out of all their staff so be prepared to leave the car or wait awhile.

P.S. don't let the other guys test drive it. Let the guy that aligns it test drive it. The others all told me I need a new rear axle cos they didn't have a clue what 4WS was.

hate to dampen this but the tyres you get for 2k with 18's are shitty, they have f**k all grip (especially in the wet), wear easily and you'll be spending another $600-800 on tyres sooner that you'd imagine. if you go option B upgrade the tyres (Spend that $400 you would have on 2 tyres for you existing wheels)

ok, yeah i know that the tyres i get with the 18s will be shit house, but then they wear i will get a good set of toyos,

94vitrosguy, there is no point gettin an alignment b4 i fit the rims as the new rims will require a different settin most likely, so no point in gettin it dun b4,

i have made the descsion to definatly get the 18s, my 17s are for sale in the classifieds section.

Definetly don't go to Kmart tyre and auto
He quoted me about $200 and told me they hardly do 4ws cars like he doesn't have a clue.

I nodded, smiled, and walked away.

How do they do a 4WS allignment with the 4th gens. It's not like the 3rd gens where they put that locking pin into the rear gearbox is it?

If you have chewed out the inside of the tyres the camber is obviously too agressive. I have no idea about the camber adjustments on the 4th gen however if the standard setup does not allow setting of close to stock values then you may also be up for a camber kit. You may want to allow for this. This will be more exagerated with 18's.

I believe they use a plank of wood and a sledge hammer

A place that is good with 3rd gen 4WS alignment or any 4WS alignment is Continental Tyres in South Melbourne. They have the full floating turn tables and the rear steering rack centre locking pin. I always take my car there. After they do it I drive back in to get them to make small adjustments so that the steering wheel is dead straight when driving straight.

There's where I'm bringing my 3rd gen in a few weeks hopefully... Bob Jane did mine recently and the steering wheel centre is off by about 5 degrees!

Is that the Continental Tyres Service place on City road?

Hi. I just had the 4WS alignment done to mine (94VTIR). Cost me $66 from Bob Jane NSW and took about an hour :)

4WS Sensor alignment with wheel alignment cost about $120 from Honda.

mmm there's a difference between a wheel alignment and a sensor alignment...

if you're having 4WS issues the sensor alignment is a good thing to do... just make sure its not something else that might cause the problem first - ie loose steering rack etc.

I believe they use a plank of wood and a sledge hammer

Actually it's a 5/8" piece of flat steel bar. They kept breaking the wood.
